Christians and Government

Often during my ministry church people have asked me if Christians should be involved in government.  I have always responded with an emphatic YES!  Here are some reasons why.

Jesus authorized the support of government in (Matthew 22:21) when He said, "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.  Our Caesar today is our government.  As Christian Americans we have an obligation to be actively involved citizens of our Republic.

In America our government is of the people, for the people and is answerable to the people.  If government is bad in our nation it is because bad people control it.  The way to get good government is for good people to get involved.  Jesus said to His followers, "You are the light of the world" and "the salt of the earth".  This implies the involvement in government.

Christians let us shine this election year and make a difference in our government.  Let's study the issues, listen to the candidates and then go to the polls and vote only for those who best represent the biblical viewpoint.

Fellow citizens, our nation is locked in a battle with Islamic terrorism, evil men that will stop at nothing to rob us of all our freedoms (including our right to vote).  If we do not use this right it does us no good to have it.  Freedom is everybody’s business (especially Christians).  He who will not use his freedom, to keep his freedom, does not deserve to be free.  Yes, indeed, Christians have a responsibility to government!
